News Brief: Texas Driver Records Go Digital

Posted & filed under Insurance Briefs, Texas Car Insurance.

Texas drivers now have the ability to order copies of their driving records via the Internet, the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) announced on Tuesday.

Rebecca Davio, the DPS Assistant Director for Driver Licensing told the press, “We are pleased to offer this new service, which is available 24/7 to our customers. The convenience of ordering your driver record online and then printing it out yourself will save everyone time and money.”

Previously, driver records had to be delivered via regular mail, though they could be ordered online. Under the new system, drivers can use a credit card and their driver’s license to make an online request, then print out the record almost instantly. The print-out is available in a certified version which may be used to obtain court permission for a defensive driving class.

Texas is one of many states transitioning more and more of its official documentation to the Internet.
