Our friends at Swinton, in the UK have shared the results of a survey which found that motorcyclists in Britain spend an average of 1.5 hours searching online for a motorcycle insurance quote.

The poll of 1,200 customers with bike insurance from Swinton found that motorcycle drivers spent less time online in 2010 searching for insurance then they did in 2009, when the average time spent was an hour longer, at 2.5 hours. The Swinton survey also revealed that in 2009, the previous year’s recession caused drivers to be more concerned about finding the best possible insurance deals.

According to the insurer, the shorter amount of time spent online is due to a greater number of financial comparison websites, and the fact that insurance companies have been making it easier and easier to request and obtain quotes online.

Anthony Aronin, head of Swinton Bikes (which is one of the leading providers of motorcycle coverage in the UK) said, “The increased use and availability of the internet has had a massive impact on the insurance industry, making it easier than ever to get a quote anytime, anywhere and in a short amount of time.” He continued, “Although despite the huge demand for motorbike insurance quotes online, there are many customers who still enjoy the benefits of being able to speak to one of our advisors in our specialist bike call centre or many branches as they seek re-assurance that they’re getting the best deal available.”
