Auto Insurance Tips - Consider More than Just the Price

When buying auto insurance, it's often tempting to shop by looking only at the amount of the monthly premium, but even with insurance the adage "you get what you pay for" holds true. Here are three things to consider, other than the price of the policy, when you begin your insurance shopping.

Replacement Parts:
In the event that you're in an accident and your car has to be repaired, the quality of the replacement parts makes a big difference. Make sure that your policy specifies the use of OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) replacement parts, rather than cheaper aftermarket options, that could put your warranty at risk.

Policy Features:
Price is important, and liability coverage is mandated by the laws in the state where you live, but the other benefits of your auto insurance vary from policy to policy. Consider benefits like roadside assistance, rental car delivery and loaner car coverage, and also look at customer service ratings.

Multiple Discounts:
Be aware of the discounts you may qualify for and ask the agent when you're talking about policies. Discounts often overlooked include low-mileage vehicles, credit for defensive driving classes, and the use of anti-theft devices.

Insurance never has to cost an arm and a leg, but make sure you shop intelligently so that fabulous price also gives you fabulous coverage.
