GEICO has made eighty-three college and university students around the country very happy this week by awarding each of them $1,000 GEICO Achievement Awards in acknowledgment of the successes they achieved during the 2009-2010 school year.

The GEICO Achievement Awards are presented annually to students who have shown academic excellence in business, computer science, mathematics, or related programs, and have demonstrated leadership abilities within their campus or communities.

Jan Stewart, GEICO vice president said, “We know the value of education and the importance of leadership experience. The recipients of the GEICO Achievement Award are chosen for their exceptional ability to demonstrate academic accomplishment and leadership skills. We hope to aid these students in accomplishing their goals during the upcoming academic year.”

The GEICO Achievement Award program requires applicants to be undergraduate students attending accredited four-year colleges or universities, with sophomore or junior status, and have a GPA of at least 3.0 at the time of their application.
