{"id":687,"date":"2011-02-10T21:01:54","date_gmt":"2011-02-11T05:01:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.carinsurancelist.com\/blog\/?p=687"},"modified":"2011-02-10T21:01:54","modified_gmt":"2011-02-11T05:01:54","slug":"new-jersey-bill-gives-drivers-a-break","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.carinsurancelist.com\/blog\/2011\/02\/new-jersey-bill-gives-drivers-a-break\/","title":{"rendered":"New Jersey Bill Gives Drivers a Break"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.carinsurancelist.com\/states-new-jersey.htm\">Senate Transportation Committee in New Jersey<\/a> introduced a bill this week that will give motorists in the Garden State a bit of a break. <\/p>\n<p>Specifically, the bill allows a driver who can prove he or she was driving legally at the time they were stopped to pay a reduced fine if they didn&#8217;t have their license, registration, or insurance card with them at the time. <\/p>\n<p>According to the bill&#8217;s sponsor, Senator Kip Bateman, a Republican from Somerset County, you shouldn&#8217;t have to pay a $180 fine if you&#8217;re running late for an appointment and forgot your driver&#8217;s license or insurance card at home.
