If you want to save money on your car insurance, one way to do that is to choose a car known for being low risk. While we recognize that not everyone has the ability to chose their ride based on safety pick lists, we thought it was important to share that the 2011 Buick Regal has received the honor of being a Top Safety Pick from the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety, coming in ahead of models from Infiniti and Lexus.
To receive this designation, a vehicle must earn the highest possible “good” ratings in front, side, and rear crash tests, as well as the new roof-strength test.
According to General Motors, the 2011 Buick Regal is meant to compete against Asian luxury brands like Lexus, leaving Cadillac to do market-share battle against the Europeans. Both the comparable Infiniti G35/37 and the Lexus IS received ratings of merely “average” in the rear crash tests.
The competing Acura TSX also has earned “good” ratings in all the crash tests, but it has not yet been subjected to the roof-strength test.
