GEICO Gecko Dispenses i-Advice

GEICO already offers an iPhone app for consumers to use, but now they’re capitalizing on the popularity of their animated Gecko mascot in another i-way. How? They’ve created an iAd, an advertising experience that maximizes the special features of the iPhone.

Via iAd banner advertisements, iPhone users will be invited to spin the GEICO Gecko’s “Wheel of Wisdom,” a game-show type interface that allows consumers to seek advice about food, family, romance, travel, health and style, all without exiting whatever app they’re currently using.

In addition to dispensing advice, the iAd interface also allows consumers to download special ringtones and wallpapers, watch GEICO’s latest commercial, or download GEICO’s GloveBox and SnapQuote apps without having to leave the ad interface and fire up the app store. There’s also an available interactive map to help people find local GEICO offices.

GEICO is a charter participant in the iAd program.
