The direct-to-consumer auto insurance company Esurance has enhanced it’s RepairView online auto repair monitoring service to allow it to go mobile via any smartphone.

RepairView allows customers who have filed insurance claims and are having their repairs done at one of the more than 1,000 company approved E-star repair shops across the country to monitor the entire process via their smartphone, but if your phone doesn’t do apps or webs, you can still (as an Esurance policyholder) follow the same process from your PC. Esurance says that going mobile makes vehicle repair monitoring to roughly 58.7 million smartphone-using Americans, though not all of those people are their customers…yet.

When using RepairView from a ‘phone, consumers can:

  • receive daily photos of their car repairs in progress
  • send email to friends in order to share those photos
  • access information about the ten-step process known as E-star
  • email the repair shop for more information about their car
  • get real-time estimates of project completion for their car repairs
  • click one button to call the repair shop directly

RepairView is available via the web, or within the “Esurance Mobile” apps for iPhone and Windows Phone 7.

In a statement to the press, Joe Laurentino, Esurance Vice President of Material Damage, said, “Online repair monitoring has been a customer favorite since we first started offering it in 2006, and by extending that capability to any smartphone, Esurance is making the claims experience and our customers’ lives easier.”

In the same press release, John Swigart, Esurance Chief Marketing Officer, added, “Offering RepairView on smartphones gives our customers more choices in how they interact with their car insurance company. We will continue to push the envelope on what Esurance can do for its customers from a technology perspective. Our aim is to provide a seamless online experience for customers with offerings that leverage the best of the Internet.”
